REMIX Music: August 4 - 8

Explore your voice, tell your story, and unlock your songwriting skills! This creative day camp helps youth tap into their artistic side through collaborative art and music-making. The week wraps up with an optional talent showcase where participants can share individual or group performances.

Re-Mix Music is led by the phenomenal Sargeant X Comrade, with support from our dedicated CQAS team and volunteers.

Yolanda Sargeant is the Queen of Lo-Fi Soul. A genre that she and her producer Comrade (Evgeniy) pioneered after not being able to find an appropriate label that fit their eclectic style. The duo infuses jazz, soul, funk, dancehall, hip-hop, and other genres into a unique sound that combines the old with the new. Sargeant’s rich vocals take center stage while Comrade’s production takes you on a multi-layered, genre-bending journey from beginning to end.

REMIX Dance: August 11-15

Move, express, and strike a pose! Re-Mix Dance invites youth to explore physical storytelling through the empowering world of vogue dance and ballroom culture. The week ends with a fabulous (and optional) Mini Kiki, where participants can shine and celebrate their new skills.

Led by the incredible artists of Vogue YYC, alongside CQAS staff and volunteers.

Vogue YYC is building and sharing ballroom culture here in calgary. They are carving out a space that actively stands against the divisiveness of the day - creating room for joy, defiance and radical self-expression. CADA’s Living a Creative Life, by Adora Nwofor and Foreignerz, recently put a spotlight on Calgary’s emerging houses, House of Galore, House of Pinklady and House of Gvasalia in The Floor Is Yours, as they define what the next era of Canadian ballroom will look like.

Let’s make some noise, strike some poses and make belonging cool again!
