Top 5 Queer Neighbourhoods Across Canada

With our vibrant neighbourhoods and diverse LGBTQ2+ scene, it’s no surprise that Canada is considered the third most gay-friendly nation in the world!

Calgary Queer Arts Society has played a pivotal role in the celebration of queer culture across Alberta. We are proud to have become a top destination for queer individuals in our community.

If you’re looking to take a road trip this summer, be sure to check out these five thriving queer neighbourhoods across Canada.

1. Vancouver

Arguably Canada’s most gay-friendly city, Vancouver boasts Davie Village, Opus Hotel, Little Sisters Bookstore, Wreck Nude Beach, and numerous delicious queer restaurants, cafes, and bars.

2. Toronto

Both the Gay Village and Queer West Village are host to notable Pride celebrations, queer culture, LGBTQ2+ art galleries, and a thriving nightlife scene.

3. Montreal

Le Village Gai is one of the largest in North America. Montreal has everything from historic architecture, colourful nightclubs, pedestrian-only walkways, drag shows, and a weeklong Pride festival!

4. Winnipeg

Osborne Village has developed an energetic LGBTQ2+ scene. Celebrate art, the community, and visit the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. Winnipeg Pride is a 10-day festival complete with queer beer!

5. Calgary

Our very own backyard has become a hub of queer culture! From Calgary Pride, Fairy Tales Calgary's Queer Film Festival, Alberta’s Next Drag Superstar, and The Coming Out in Faith Monologues, Calgary has become a welcoming atmosphere for the LGBTQ2+ community.
