Inclusion Resolutions: 10 Ways You Can Stand Up For LGBTQ+ in 2018

The LGBTQ+ community has witnessed many milestones; however, there is still a long way to go. FairyTales Presentation Society provides a safe environment for queer individuals and allies to freely express themselves. Here are 10 ways you can stand up for the LGBTQ+ community in 2018:

Volunteer

Support local organizations by dedicating your time to a queer-focused program. FairyTales has an excellent volunteer program with many available positions.

Donate

Most LGBTQ+ focused organizations are in dire need of funding. You can help inform the public about inclusion by making a donation today!

Attend an LGBTQ+ Event

Calgary has events of all kinds: Pride Parades, seminars, poetry readings, Coming Out Monologues, rallies, and fun activities. You’re sure to find one that interests you!

Get Educated

LGBTQ+ individuals and allies alike can brush up on queer culture and find resources about queer rights and justice.

Read About Local LGBTQ+ Issues

The easiest way to learn about the local LGBTQ+ community is to stay on top of stories in the local newspapers.

Practice Inclusion

Be mindful of your daily routine. Make everyone feel welcome regardless of sexuality or gender.

Host a Seminar

FairyTales OUTReels Program can host a simulated discussion about LGBTQ+ issues at your workplace, school, or community organization!

Shop at LGBTQ+ Owned Businesses

Supporting local queer businesses helps to maintain a diverse community in and around Calgary.

If You See Something, Say Something

If you’re witnessing discriminatory behaviour, don’t be afraid to stand up and educate the perpetrator.
