This event celebrates diversity. We encourage children to look beyond gender stereotypes, and embrace an exploration of self. Participants see people who interpret gender, and they imagine a colourful world where people can express their identities. Local drag queens and kings lead this event, and it’s a family-friendly program.

Outliers: Calgary’s Queer History Screening (Director’s Cut)

Friday, August 31, 2018
7:00 PM  10:00 PM
Memorial Park Library

An exclusive screening of our renowned film! Outliers explores Calgary’s queer history, and takes a deep dive into historical, social, and political forces. The film takes a look at the shaping and development of Calgary’s queer community. Featuring extensive footage and B-roll from Calgary Pride in the 90’s, Outliers recounts a decade of turmoil, loss, and growth.

This film is a first-hand account of the LGBTQ2A+ community’s activism, at a time when the right to be out in Alberta was not legally protected. This feature-length film takes stories from the 1960’s-present day. The documentary delves into the moments of victories, which brought an entire community from the darkness into the light.

Film Screening of Man Made (Special Guest in Attendance)

Thursday, August 30, 2018
7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Plaza Theatre

Man Made is an exceptional film that takes us into the heart of transgender male culture. It will reveal unexpected truths about gender, masculinity, humanity, and love. Four trans men, who come from different walks of life, converge on stage at FitCon, which is the only all-transgender bodybuilding competition in the world.

Man Made is a character-driven, intimate, and riveting verite-style competition film. The film also speaks to social justice, and the ways in which we all choose to define and reshape ourselves.
