27th Annual Calgary Pride Festival
Calgary Pride is almost here, and we can’t wait! This annual event is in its 27th year running and will be with us shortly from August 25 to September 4, 2017. Are you ready? What is Calgary Pride? This event is a special time for the community of Calgary to celebrate diversity. Run by the Calgary Pride organizational committee, the event one of the many activities the group organizes to work towards a discrimination free future.
Activities More specifically, Calgary Pride, is a series of activities and events including well-known features such as the Calgary Pride Parade and Pride in the Park, both of which will be held on September 3. At the parade, over 60,000 spectators gather to enjoy watching entries from 150 community groups march by, celebrating the city’s diversity. Pride in the Park is a free outdoor celebration held after the parade. There, you’ll find music, activities, food and refreshing beverages and fun activities for children. Fairy Tales will be holding a noon-hour Outreels session (Trans and Non-Binary 101, hosted by James Demers) on Friday, Sept. 1st from noon - 1 pm in the drop-in zone at The National Music Centre. Free to attend! We hope to see you there.
